Colonial Charleston Teacher Institute


TEACHERS!!! Would you like to experience over 15 amazing colonial history sites directly related to South Carolina’s involvement in the Revolutionary War & gain innovative teaching skills for your classroom, all while earning 3 graduate credit hours?  

If so, the Colonial Charleston Teacher Institute was created just for you! 

Join us this coming June for a graduate level course through The College of Charleston that includes site visits to a variety of Lowcountry historical sites with stimulating activities and presentations.  Respected historians cover the various aspects of this era. You will gain a solid understanding of our state’s impact on the Revolutionary War and discover how you can bring this era to life for your students in any grade level or  curricular area!

CCTI SYLLABUS

Applicants must be actively teaching any grade level or subject and be in possession of a SC teacher’s certificate. Twenty SC public school teachers qualify for this SC250 funded scholarship. Five additional places are reserved for full-pay private school teachers ($500 + $155 registration) Private school applicants may inquire about possible financial assistance and housing. 

SC 250 scholarships will be awarded to the most qualified public school applicants. Eight of these scholarships include a single-occupancy hotel room and will be granted to teachers living in the most distant areas of the state.  All scholarship recipients pay only $155 to register with the College of Charleston for the course.
